Review: Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow

Image

Okay, so let me just start by telling you a little bit about my first experience using this product. When I bought my first Armani Eyes to Kill eyeshadow, I happened to be 9 months pregnant, and was just waiting for the day of delivery. I have to admit though, to me, it was going to be just another gold eyeshadow to add to my collection(I got #5), and I didn’t expect to be impressed that much. The next day after I purchased it, I decided to try it on as I was getting ready for another shopping spree with my mom. Well, the shopping didn’t happen cause on that day, I started my laboring process. Long story short, after I had delivered my son, as I was lying down in the recovery room and the doctor came to check on me, I clearly remember the first thing she said was: “ Wow Ms. Djais, you managed to put on some make-up on your eyes, huh? they look great!!”. That was when I realized that my eye make-up hasn’t smudged, creased, or changed a bit, even after a long, sweaty, 20 hours of labor. So I thought “hmmm.. I need to get some more of this”. And yup, I ended up buying 4 more.

The product comes in 0.14 glass container, and at $32 each, they are quite pricey. The texture is kind of like a dense powder, and it feels very soft and creamy. Being a make-up junkie, I’ve became more selective in buying make-up and still sometimes ended up regretting buying some of them. However, this turned out to be one of those products that I want to own in every color. The shade selections are stunningly pretty that I was having a hard time choosing which shades to buy.

They have beautiful metallic finish, the color payoffs are amazing, they’re highly pigmented, super long-wearing, and the shine effect it has is just perfect! This product is the one that I’ll go to whenever I want to glam up my make up look, but have very little time. Just apply it with your finger (I found it to be the best way of applying it), put on some black eyeliner and mascara, and that’s it!! It is also great to be used as a base for other eyeshadow if you run out of a primer, as it will make your eye make-up stay on longer and enhance the colors you put on top of it.

Now there is a drugstore version of this product, that is, the L’oreal infallible eyeshadows. They do have similar formula (L’oreal owns both of them) but up to now, I haven’t moved to purchase the Infallible ones yet, just because cause I think the colors of these Armani Eyes to Kill are just so dimensional and there is no way the L’oreal one can compare to them.

To justify the high price-point, I purchased pretty basic colors that I would wear often, they are: No. 26, 5 (Gold Blitz),6 (Khaki Pulse), 21 (Obsidian Grey), and 20 (Obsidian black).

I won’t be describing too much about the shades, as the pics do it all!! So here they are, enjoy!! :)

Now you know why I'm in love with these  guys. So yes, I’ll definitely be purchasing some more. Do you own other shades than mine of this collection? Which shades would you recommend?

Review: YSL Rouge Pur Couture – VERNIZ A LEVRES – Glossy Stain

Photobucket

The name itself is a mouthful. I don’t even know how anyone can remember it. I would go by YSL Lip Stain for all I know. So, what is so good about this lip product? From my last post on the Tarte Lip Tint (remember those chubby sticks?) I did mention that I have a dry sensitive lip. This lip stain won me over not only because of the beautiful packaging, but also the long lasting formula without the dryness.

The lip stain product line comes in 20 shades. I picked up 2 shades last week at the YSL counter in Plaza Senayan – they are #7 Corail Aquatique and #9 Rouge Laque. I thought #7 is perfect for everyday use. It’s very neutral with a tint of pink. In contrast, #9 is bright orange red, which is more suitable for the evening, but perhaps I can wing this one during the day as well with nominal makeup in the eye.

The consistency of this lip stain is very lightweight and does not leave a sticky residue on the lip. The shape of the applicator has a slanted design that made it easier to apply to the lip. The lip stain melts in your lip with a glossy finish once it’s applied. For a sheer natural coverage you only need one coat, and two coats for a more prominent coverage. The beauty of this lip stain is that even when the gloss are gone during the wear, it still leaves a pretty stain in your lip. I think this is great for transitioning to the next application so that it doesn’t leave that bare-lip look.

Like any other YSL products, their packaging theme is not far from the gold tone trademark. I also like the fact that it has a clear window at the middle to see how much left we have in the bottle. Each bottle comes with .2 oz. / 6 ml and priced at 320K IDR. It is currently available in any YSL counter in Jakarta (SOGO or METRO).

Bottom line: I love this lip product a lot. Yes, it’s expensive but with the long lasting wear, I am still able to justify the price with the quality.

Vienna

The second city we went in Austria was Vienna. We did a city tour to Schonbrunn Palace, and did some damage shopping downtown. We tasted the authentic Wiener Schnitzel in one of the outdoor restaurant and the Original Sacher Torte in the Sacher Cafe. The beautiful hotel we stayed in was blocks away from Belvedere, where we witness the legendary painting from Gustav Klimt called “The Kiss”. Not to forget Vienna is the home of the Mozart chocolate and Swarovski jewelry. Vienna is actually one of my favorite place on our Eurotrip.

Yellowfin

This isn't my first visit to Yellowfin, in fact, i do visit quite often (once a week or at least twice a month). The reason why is my addiction to Japanese food which lift up my appetite whenever wherever, and Yellowfin is by far, the closest restaurant I could find near my office. Having them is really a privilege for me. But of course I wouldn't come here so often if the food fails my expectation, which they don't. Despite their little space, you can tell how they pay a lot of attention to details. Origami papers, sake bar filled with various sake bottles as their main catchy decorations, wooden lamps, the chopstick set, the wooden chalky menu list. I simply love it.

To order their menu, we're not using the conservative way where we'd raise our hand to get noticed by the waitresses. We simply have to click one out of 4 buttons that says "service". same thing goes when we wanted to refill our drinks, or to get our bill. The service is fast and you gonna love it when you're on a starving mode.

Now the menu variations is not surprising. It has typical sections such as sashimi, grilled, noodles etc. However, they do have some recommended menus that me and my friends kept ordering such as the Tobiko Wakame Salad, Hot Shoyu Ramen, Soft Shell Crab Salsa, Tori Karaage Chicken, and  the Volcano Roll Sushi.

The Tobiko Wakame salad taste really fresh and has a strong flavor from the marinated seaweed, while the hot Shoyu Ramen has delicious taste of broth. the chicken in it is soft and tasty as well (I always order the level 1 cause its strong enough to burn my tongue). The soft shell crab is crunchy while the salsa flavor blends well with the rather salty taste of the crab and its moist texture (this one goes to my fave list without a doubt). As for the Tori Karage and the volcano roll, as mentioned, you find it easily on other Japanese restaurant, but I love Yellowfin more cause the chicken is not so oily and it's soft.

Now on to the desserts. Typically we always end up our meal with a glass of Green Tea/Maccha Ice cream, but this time we would like to try something else so we got our self a Green Tea Dorayaki, and a Green Tea Sake Tiramisu.

It's cute how in the end they gave you this set of wood with white round-looking thing in it. You simply dig it, and it'll expand into a wet tissue. Very well thought into details.

In the end.. as always. the awful part. Bills. I think the price is quite fair considering its location and the food quality, so it was all worth it.
